I'm sure some of you remember me.

Today I purchased a new PS2 Phat (39000x I think) and I would like to remod it. Now, if anyone remembers, my last PS2 got modded first with Swap Magic, which I got tired of (and will not work now anyway), than I got a CrystalChip installed. Now, the stupid Crystal Chip died and stopped working.

Now, I decided to take a safer modding alternative. The brand new Memor32 + Memento, which wasn't available at the time I was into the PS2 modding stuff.

I would like to know for sure if this product is really all that it's hyped up to be. Has anyone had experiences?

Also, where can I buy the Memory Card and the firmware deal?

Thank you all very much.

Hey, yes I remember your problem very well.

Actually cheaper and better than the memor32 is fmcb 1.8

You can find an installer here - link

Or you could buy the memor32 yourself, then install fmcb 1.8

I have info on the memor32 in my profile as I bought it when it came out.
But fmcb 1.8 is more compatible.

Thanks smoky. After looking around, I found out you have to burn backups in some special Memento way to make them work. Is this true? Is the FMCB a memory card or a Firmware?

realhotstuff.com sells Memor32 for 63 dollars. Good deal? Reviews say they have great shipping.

Is the Memor and Memento that good in your opinion?

You have to patch your discs with the memento disc patcher or you can use the esr disc patcher as its newer.

Just make sure to put the 1.2e firmware on the memor32, and if some games won't play then one uses the ESR.ELF to play the backup.

Or as I said previous, you can install fmcb 1.8 to a regular sony 8mb card using your memor32 and have both.

some people just prefer to install fmcb 1.8 to the memor32, but I like having both.

I have never had any problems with memor32 or memento, but others have.

So you can also opt for the cheaper way and just have someone install fmcb 1.8 for you, and then just buy a larger memory card for the space.

Consolesource.com has them for 59.95 and I believe modchip.ca also does.

FMCB is for that cogswap/mcboot mod, or are those different? How do I do those?

Also, what's this ESR thing? Both the disc and the ELF

And it sucks that I have to patch discs to get them working with Memento. I already have a bunch of back upped PS2 games.

Fmcb 1.8 is a mod in itself, just like memor32, but you can have your appplications show up right in the browser.

http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/

Just read the 1.8 user guide. It explains it.

Now for just the memor32 and for fmcb you can launch cogswap or SM 3.8 elf to play the backups that aren't patched.

The process is the same
http://www.gamegen.com.br//index.php?/to...nto-on-memor32/

Basically just requires you to have an ORiginal DVD or CD game in at the time you launch SM 3.8

Guide on how to install fmcb 1.8 using the memor32 - http://www.gamegen.com.br//index.php?/to...memor32-itself/

Now you can use that tutorial to install fmcb 1.8 on the memor32 or you can just install it too another memory card. Its up too you.

ESR is explained here. It is the elf that launches the game - http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58441

This all seems very confusing. I don't have many tools at my disposal anyway. The only things I have now is my Swap Magic 3.8 PAL discs, some memory cards, a NTSC PS2, a bunch of burned discs, and I have this PAL Xploder cheat system or something... along with a PS3.

I should just buy the Memor and Memento and see what I can do from there.

Do the PAL Swap Magic work with your NTSC PS2.

If they do, you could just install fmcb 1.8 to your memory card yourself.

Or if your Xploder has an x-link cable, there is a method using that also.

The guides are pretty straight forward, you just need to read the guide and the install for Swap Magic.

http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/

But its entirely up too you if you just want to buy the memor32 first and go that route.

Lol, both my Swap Magic and my Xploder are PAL discs, so I don't think they will work with my new NTSC PS2.

Guess I should just go buy the damn Memor.
