ok with my sony dcr dvd 106e i am recording movie on to the internal disc

then connect the usb up to my pc and the internal dvd folder pops up on my screen containing 3 files

VR_MANGR.IFO

VR_MANGR.BUP

VR_MOVIE.VRO

i copy them to my hard disc they act much like a dvd

what i want to know is .......can i get the cam recorder to give my avi's instead or...... how do i get dvd decrypter to read from the folder i saved the sony dvd files in so i can then change the dvd into avi by other methods

thanks

Copy VR_MOVIE.VRO to the HDD.

Rename VR_MOVIE.VRO to VR_MOVIE.VRO.mpg

Your media player should accept and play it ok.

Load the .mpg into AutoGK and convert to avi.

If you finalize the disk in the camcorder, load it into the PC, copy the main DVD_RTAV folder onto the HDD will Premier open it.

You need to change how you are recording video, on your camcorder. .vro is not the way to go. I forget what the other setting is, for a miniDVD camcorder, but that other one is the one you should be using.

Edit: Use Video mode.
