I'm looking for help on finding a digital camcorder that has the ability to turn off the audio during recording.

Look for one that has an external mic socket.. then plug a blank plug into it... or just ignore the audio and delete it from your file after. I had a bit of a browse and couldn't find any that list audio record mute as a feature in the specs.. best thing is to go and look in shops.
