I'm definitely in the learning mode so please bare with me.
I have been trying to rip Startrek on my MBP for use on my Apple TV. I'm using software called PAVTube. The conversion to mp4 for ATV, I get. The DVD side, not so much. My questions are very basis so please excuse my ignorance but...

How is the DVD laid out? It has 28 separate folders named 7_1 through 7_8 and 8_1 though 8_12 and finally 10_1 through 10_8.

Each of those 28 folders has 15 chapters with similar durations. So my question is, what is the difference with each of these 28 folders? Language, subtitles, frame rates, aspect ratios? Why so many and more importantly, which do I choose for conversion?

I've experimented a little with Startrek and also with Transformers 2 and the quality is great. I have a second question though. What am I missing so that the chapters play in correct sequence? They are all over the map at the moment.

Can someone point me to a definitive guide or focused knowledge base so I can learn something useful. Thanks
