HELP!! Controllers don't work in emulators!!!

I have a modded xbox (original xbox). Controller works on the dashboard AND in Xbox games, but when I go into an emulator the emulator runs but won't respond to my controller...Any Ideas? Any help is well appreciated!

They should just work... after a fashion .. Unless it's a 3rd party controller.. those often don't.

It is an original controller, thats why im so confused...

I guess the place to look for a solution is in the individual emulator config files.. there is often a keymapping section. I can't be more specific without knowing which emulators and their precise revisions.

Sometimes just unplugging the controller and counting to 5 before reconnecting makes the usb reset and then they pick up.

Unplug.. count to 5 and plug in again? .. One of mine is like that with xbmc sometimes.. but only if you touch a trigger when the app is loading.. That's how come I thought of it.
