Hi, I need some help with solving an ftp issue on my xbox. I can connect no problems using a crossover cable from computer to xbox but when I am transferring files, it seems to freezes up. When freezes up, error message that directory listing cannot be accessed can be seen using either windows explorer, filezilla or flashxp. When I access xbmc again, the icons and the system seem to hang and crash which it goes to a blank screen. It seems to only transfer a certain amount of files before crashing.

My xbox detail setup are as follows:

Connected using Crossover cable with static ip setup
Xbox login using default username as xbox and pw as xbox, static ip address 192.168.0.2, s.mask 255.255.2550.0 and default gateway as 192.168.0.1, dns empty or 0.0.0.0

Pc details: Ip address: 192.168.0.1, s.mask 255.255.255.0 and default gateway--empty, dns--empty

Tried using active and passive mode but make no difference to issue.Xbox is using xbmc program as main dash. Tried using avalaunch, and unleashx as boot application but nothing works, same problem. Hard drive is 500gb sata drive but not sure if it is the cause to it as it may be taking a lot more power and may freeze the system. The hdd is connected to xbox via a sata to ide controller.

Let me know if anyone can assist on this as I can't find a solution while searching on forums or if could inform me if it is possible to link up the xbox hdd to the pc using a sata cable and then transfer all the necessary files.

Thanks in advance.

Never thought of putting a sata HD in an Xbox, props to you. But if it is the cause of your problem...

Your IPs don't match the IP setup I use. Try this:

Xbox
Static IP: 192.168.0.2
SMask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.100

PC(XP edit internet protocol 3, vista 4, connect ftp cable and power on Xbox, this will show the network connection you need to edit)
IP:192.168.0.3
SMask: 255.255.255.0
DGateway:0.0.0.0
(leave dns and everything else blank)

Use internet explorer, it's easy. Enter ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.0.2, you're in. Click page, then click open ftp window. Hope this helped.

When ftping from pc to xbox without going through the router, using dgateway for xbox which you mention "Default Gateway: 192.168.0.100", will this cause any problems as I thought that the xbox should use the pc ip address as a default gateway, correct me if I am wrong? Btw, just wondering if there is a possibility that the xbox connection while ftp always timeout after a certain time and ask to login again while transfering large files. When transfering small individual files, seems to be fine but when transferring large game files,or items with lots of files and folders, etc after a certain period, the system crashes and error msg on the flashxp or filezilla states that it cannot locate the folder anymore or sometimes it says critical error.

Let me know if any further assistance could be provided.

Thanks
