Burns Dual Layer But Wont Read It

My Gateway desktop is about 2 years ago and just recently i tried to burn some dual layer dvd's with it. They burn fine but the same burner that burns it, wont read it. But, my laptop will read it. Even my old old laptop will read it. Gateway wont support it anymore so I need a new drive. Any suggestions on something that is around $50 or less and dependable. I have had bad luck with Pioneer. Thanks.
