Salutations forum members,
After reviewing many posts, I've come to the conclusion that I need to possibly replace my old Mad Dog burner and switch to Verbatim media to fix the occasional burning issue. Times being what they are, buying used is a necessity.
How recent a burner do I need to find in order to be able to burn Verbatim discs successfully? Is the BenQ line too old and questionable? They listed features I don't find from current makers.
Thanks for any feedback.

used is a false economy.. new are pennies more.. buy branded not "in a bag something or other" .. seriously.. buying used burners is just a waste of money..

you can easily buy a brand new burner for under $100.Secondhand burner has probably been used to he point where the laser is damaged or that worn out it wont work.

I understand the concerns but wish someone would address my questions. There are still values to be had on Craigslist and all are not always used.
Example -
LG GSA-E30L 18x External Super-Multi DVD Burner(REDUCED) - $45
Seller says it's new in the box but it happens to be about 3 years old. Again, how recent does a burner have to be to insure it will have the ability to burn to Verbatim and other similar media?

i just checked the website for the store i got my computer from.Lite on super burner internal IDE dvd burner for $40.LG internal sata dvd burner for $40 or pioneer internal sata dvd burner for $40.I dont know what the convertion rate is as im guessing your in USA but i think $AU are about the same as $US.if i can find 3 dvd burners brandnew for $40 each with a 2year warrently in about 30seconds i think $45 is too much for a second hand 1.

i had a 4 year old liteon burner that was used maybe twice when the computer it was in went kaput.when i bought my new computer it already had a burner so the liteon became a spare.well recently my other burner wore out and i installed the spare and no problems.that having been said ps is right.used is not the way to go on these.i still dont know why anyone would buy these online as there are so many outlets close by to purchase these.
