My LITE-ON 1633S will not write a file onto my DVD-R?

I have a LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S BGS4(ATA) that cannot write an Iso file onto my Sony DVD-R x16. I keep getting the message CANNOT WRITE MEDIUM-INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT. My friend told me my drive should support it and told me to simply update my driver. When I did though I ran into another problem. I get a message that says

No matched drive detected!
This utility is only for LITE-ON SOHW-1633S drive.
Detected drives:
0-0-0-0 E: LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S BGS4
0-0-1-0 F: LITE-ON CD-ROM LTN-4891S NGS3

Is there anyone who can help me fix this thing? All I really want is just to be able to burn an Iso onto a DVD-R x16. Thanks for any help.
By the way I'm not an expert on burners so please have patience if I don't understand anything.
