I bought a new Sata drive for my, unfortunately, ide system so i also purchased an ide to sata card. My system recognizes the drive and knows when a cd is in it and on at least one cd and one dvd it lists a couple of files but mostly it doesnt read or write. The jumpers on my old drive were set to cable select which is also what HP says to use. I tried it on Master and it did read cds then but the system sound didnt work and it didnt recognize my other dvd so I set it back to cable. My systems wmi was also missing so I found the files in a temporary drive, copied them back to where they belong and wmi now seems to be working although Microsofts diagnostic doesnt recognize SP3 so who knows.
