Optiarc DVD RW AD-7241S help

hey i just got a new Optiarc DVD RW AD-7241S drive for my birthday the only thing in the box was the drive no disc or anything. it is a drive with multiple functions

when there is no disc in it on "my computer" it says the drive name is "DVD-RAM Drive (E:)"

i am not a noob with computers and i know something is wrong when i put a blank dvd in in it and it renames it to "CD Drive (E:)" and when i click on it, i get an error message that says minus the stuff i put to organize it

title - "M..." //not sure what is after the M sorry
Message - "E:\ is not accessible.
incorrect function."

i think it is a driver problem but i don't have a disc for a driver and the add hardware tool in control panel says there is nothing wrong

please help
