Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here and I beleive I am posting this in the right section.

Ok heres my problem. I have an old Compaq Windows XP in my basement, dont use it anymore because its bugged up. My newer computer, an HP Vista Home Premium, has some expansion slots for another disc drive and storage drive (hdd I think). I connected them to my VIsta.

I only hooked up the 4 pronged wire to it because there were no other wires. I put the covers back on and booted it up. The disc drive opens and closes and the light is lit green but it does not appear to be working. I put my DVD-R that has a lot of music on it in the drive but all it does is hsvr a solid green lit light.

The other thing I put in, the HDD, also appears that its not working. I know Im doing something wrong but I have no idea what it is. Maybe someone could shed some light on my problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
