Having a little trouble with this drive when trying to read music CD's, install CDRoms, etc. DVD's are reading okay.
I have tried different methods of fixing this problem as there seems to be alot of trouble with the same model from other people when using it on XPpro.
So, using XPpro, the computer recognises the drive okay (all is enabled), I was going to try deleting the slave file and keeping the master file in registry keys, but cannot dtermine which channel its in as there is 3 primary and 3 secondary (all with no clues as to which is controlling the DVD drive).
Software conflictions could include Nero, Roxio, Ashampoo and Videolan.
What happens is I insert a legitimate/blank/full CD disk (even blank DVD-r) and it comes up as nothing being in the drive, I can hear the lens trying to read (clicking) but it never catches it. When I insert a DVD it automatically opens up a player and the DVD plays.
I don't think its a lens problem as it is reading the DVDs okay, and its a new drive which was rarely used, its also VERY clean in the drive. It has to be either firmware/drives/settings....I may have altered settings somewhere to upset the drive or deleted a required file.
Any help greatly appreciated, would really like to solve this problem without having to replace the DVD drive, I do DJing and need to have the music on the PC for this.
