I have a 3mo old computer with a cd/dvd drive, which will burn and write CD's, and allow me to play DVD ,s but will not recognize a blank dvd only.
I have tried to see if there is an updated driver on the web, noluck.
The current driver is Microsoft's, from 2001. Windows xp.
Device manager seems to recognize all and the DMA is enabled.
Any thoughts?????

I have one of these burners.. it works fine, but is rather picky about disks.. especially +rw disks.
what are you hoping to see on a blank disk? .. install burning software.

If you mean what software am I using the answer is several - NTI, Nero 7, and DVD Flick . None of these recognize a disk in the drive when it gets to that step, so I know it is with the drive, not the software.
