Hello all,

I have been looking at tigerdirect and would like some opinions on these burners:


Samsung SH-S223C


Plextor PX-880SA


Pioneer DVDRW SATA Internal DVD/CD Writer


Or does anyone have any recommendations?

I actually own the Pioneer (different model number but same drive), and it is a good enough drive but not the best. Pioneer started using a different chipset in their drives and doesn't appear to be as good as their older drives - you shouldn't need it, but there haven't been many firmware updates either. It is also a little noisier than I'm used to, and that is quite an expensive price.

Plextor are generally good drives but again they are expensive. Not sure about the Samsung. You may wish to read up on this thread..

..and then consider the two drives mentioned in that thread (LiteOn iHAS324 and the Sony Optiarc AD7240S), both of which are available on tiger direct.
