Hauppauge PVR 720p or 1080i

I'm having a hard time deciding if I should capture in 720p or 1080i with the Hauppauge HD-PVR using Component cables for video, and Optical cable for the 5.1 sound from my Cable DVR.

720p is Progressive, and the frame rate is 60fps.
But 1080i is more Pixels I think, I might be getting my terms mixed up, sorry.
But I've read 1080i is better for bigger size TVs but is only 30fps.

Twice the frame rate would seem to be a bigger file size in AVCHD I would think. But I have recorded the same shows off my DVR, once in 720p and 1080i. The 1080i file size is bigger. Which make me think that it is better.

Anyone got any advice? or can let me know some info on what you do personally??
