I think thay have all the right in the world to worry. I mean after all it is a $250+ piece of hardwear. And besides the downgrading is usually the first risky thing you do with your psp.

Its not really risky though....people make it out to be a bigger deal than it is, but the fact is that if you follow the downgrader process step by step you cant go wrong.

You're right about following the instructions and all. But anytime you mess with the flash it's risky. Although like you said if you follow instructions and have a charged battery you're in the clear.

Well, last night at irc, I was an eyewitness of a brick :<
The guy, *SENSORED* ,Swithed his PSP off during the downgrade, cause he understood wrong the meaning on "Wait untill the light stops flashing, and the PSP turns off"
The things that could cause a brick are:
1. your house's powers turn off suddenly.
2. You pull your A/C adaptor off the PSP.
3. You switch the PSP off.
4. You pull the memstick out.
5. The Memstick goes dead during the process.
Also, when the Downgrade is in process, you shouln't touch ANYTHING.
That means everything, hear me? Just wait the 2-9 minutes, and relax :)
Personally I've downgraded 3 PSPs now, none of 'em bricked.

You'd have to do something really stupid to brick it.
Ive read posts from people who got scared halfway through and switched it off or took the battery out.....they deserve to have bricks !!
As Cobspider has said, once you start just leave the PSP for a while. I normally start it off and leave it for about 10mins...do something else.
Then when you come back to it it should be done ! :)

BurnCK, exactly.
When you have passed the ELoader part, there is no turning back.
But it really shouldn't be a big deal.. Since almost all of the bricks are caused by 'brick' ppl :D

The success rate for BETA was 93%. With the final version, it must be at least 96%. Now keep in mind for beta some people prolly did it wrong, etc. Triple check you have everything in the right places, just think confidently itll all go well. If you do it right your chances will be an estimated 97-99%. Sure its not as high as the almost near-guarenteed 2.0 to 1.5, but its definitely worth a shot. Also if you got the warranty from bestbuy, check into it. I think they replace the PSP reguardless of what happened, but thats just what i heard (even tho i have the warranty i never really checked it out) . Good luck downgrading and remember, homebrew and ISO's are SO worth it.

yeah the best buy warranty will cover anything but losing the psp. I have stomped on screens to get new ones. Bricked em from learning how to use flashing programs properly and they have replaced it everytime. For the 40 bux the best buy extended warranty is more then worth it.
