Problem with Panasonic DMR55

Bought the machine in UK in June and had it in storage then shipped to my new home in Cyprus and when I tried to set it up for the first time, the following problems occured:
1. it cannot find any TV stations through the TV aerial input in RF.
2. It will not output through Scart on AV1, only outputs through RF lead to TV.
3. It will not recieve any inputs from a VCR into AV2, AV3 or AV4.
I wanted to copy some VHS tapes on to DVD-R but the machine is not playing ball.

I have tried everything that I can think of including changing the AV input settings but am still drawing a blank.
I wonder if i have bought a duff product?

Can anyone help me please
