I have a nec 2500a internal dvd burner in an encosure, running it through a u.s.b. 2.0 cablet to my laptop(now external). I am having great results with this burner, but as I have been using it lately I have been wondering about the life of the burner. Since it is in a stand-alone enclosure it has its own power supply and fan, so I have to power it up and down everytime I use it. Will this kill the drive a lot faster then if I had it in a desktop!
