I have read the posts I could find on Ac3 without success so I just like to ask: I have some avis with ac3.dvm encoded sound as reported by codec examiner.
I can only play the avis in one player called media player classic. I cannot edit/render or extract sound eg with virtual dub. Codec examiner directs me to a source for ac3filter.ax which I install - no change. I have installed up to date divx and xvid ; also mlcom.ax in OdioDec.zip as a thread suggested but this does not contain ac3.dvm and as named this does not exist in my PC.

Will it help to convert to mpg or does this I suppose not solve the sound problem. And if I need ac3.dvm how do you get it? Recommendation of a good tool to convert avi > mpg would be welcome anyway
