I have an SBOX external mod. how can I make PS2 back-ups? The SBOX mod doesn't support DVD-R. I have a game shark to go with it. IS there another way to make DVD backups and use it with my SBOX?
I guess what i need is this:
1) What do I need to make PS2 backups?
2) Since most games are now on DVD, will I need to get a new Mod in order to back-up PS2 games?
Thanks, i absolutely know nothing about this.

Hey bro, thanks for responding. I have a DVD burner. but the SBOX mod chip that came with my PS2, doesn't support DVD-R and most games are DVD-Rom games. It will only support CD-R. What should I do? do those swap magic disks work, and where can I get a cheap pair or copy them?

Does the swap magic work as well as the mod chip. I have a version 4 ps2. Will it allow me to play games, even with double check? Where can I get a cheap swap magic?

Version 4 PS2's don't support the double-check protection so a Magic 3.1 chip will do just fine in that machine. Ripping your DVD games to CD's will not work for your existing problem in either case unless you rip them to 650MB. Most people rip them down to 700MB and the SBOX and Swap Magic discs will not read them even though they are CD's without the use of a Breaker Pro disc which must be a purchased disc in order for it to work properly.
PS2 - v8
Mod - Magic V
Burner - CenDyne (Pioneer) DVR-A05
Media - Anything Cheap
Gamecube w/Broadband Adapter
Phantasy Star Online
Animal Crossing Loader v1.4
Phantasy Star Uploader v1.1
Gamecube ISO Ripping Server v1.0.0.29

Thanks Ice. I guess the best thing to do is buy the SWAP MAGIC disks, so I don't have to deal with all the solder stuff etc. I have a version 4 and if swap magic allows me to play DVD-R games, then thats great. Can anyone recommend a good cheap place to pick up the swap magic cds. thanks
