Problems with TMPGEnc DVD Author

A friend of mine let me borrow TMPGEnc DVD Author to see what I thought before I bought it. I have a pioneer DVD recorder that records to DVD-R while my DVD recorder on my pc does DVD+R. I used DVD-RW with the stand alone recorder to bring it over and add menus to. I copied to a DVD+R using both Nero 6 and the writing tool installed. In Nero, it fails at the end because it could not write disc-at-once. On the write tool installed, it copies completely but no player can read it. Can someone please help me out?
