This only happens with back-ups of purple bottom disks. The original purple bottom disks work perfect with the chip disabled . It only the back-ups of the purples that don't work with the chip. If you put it in a pc it reads it the same as the real. Yet every boot method doesn't allow the purple backed up ones to work.

you have to burn it as a cd not a dvd if you havn't already did that
even thouhg it say's ps2 (and most games that are ps2 are dvd) that doesn't meen it's a dvd based game.
How many gig's or megs is the game

yes i have a duo on a ver 4 and i have the same prob as you i think. i can boot ps2 backup as long as they are on cdr medial, but any on dvd r media will not boot, it does however recognize it as a ps2 disk in the browser, but won't boot comes up with red screen of death, even regular dvd rom games(not backup) it won't boot unless i disable the chip.

This happend on my v9 (with a magic V chip, I was upgrading to a matrix infinity)and it would only read cd and cd-r based game not any type of dvd original and dvd backups, sorry to say I have no information to help you guys out as the guy I took it to get upgraded said (don't buy from this company) Fastmodz where I originally bought from really screwed it up. So I had to buy a new PS2 :(
I hope someone can help with this problem

games like Sukusuku Inufuku and Meiwaku Seijin Panic Maker both are dvdrip games but are 528mb but no higher than 700mb. So of course i would burn them on to cd-rs. Since thats what they are . When i try burning them to a dvd it doesn't work. Its not a dvd format when you read the mode .
