Pioneer DVD-R A105 Stopped writing to discs

Hi,

Would there be any reason that a DVD-R drive would all of a sudden refuse to write to a certain brand of disc?

I ask because I've been using a certain brand with no problems, and halfway down the spindle I now get errors relating to not being able to burn on the disc IE: bad media.

I've used like 3 spindles of the same brand now and just started getting these errors. It's not that the discs in the spindle are bad, because I went out and bought a brand new one and am still getting the errors.

I have a Pioneer A05 drive if that matters.

How old is the drive ? -- Approx. how many disks have you burned with it ? Is it recognized in your burning software ? Can it burn a Simulation ?

It is about 1 and a half years old.

Not really sure how many discs I've burned with it, but I'd guesstimate at least 400.

It is recognized by Nero.

It can't burn a simulation. I get the internal target failure error again.

Mmmmmmm , smells like a sick drive to Me ! I may be wrong. May be worth it to first of all uninstall Nero and re-install it ! And if that dont put back things in order -- try the drive in another PC.

A good cleaning of the laser inside may also help.
