Hello, I a newbie to this site! I hope this is the right forum to post this to, if not please let me know so I can forward it to the right section!

I have a Sony HDTV 51 inch widescreen Projection TV and a HP pavilion ze4400 laptop with XP Home edition.

I have successfully connected the s-video out to the TV and audio too! I followed the steps (short as they are) from my HP laptop manual to switch the display from the laptop to the TV and I can see my desktop on the Sony HDTV!

My problem is that when I attempt to play any video (avi, mpeg, etc) Windows Media Player, etc will display the frame that runs the media but it is black. I can hear the audio on the TV so I figure the media is running, but I get no video on the TV!

What steps did I miss in order to display avi's and mpegs (ex: like those downloaded from the web) from my laptop to the TV???

I did not test any store purchased DVDs from my PC to my TV since I have a standard dvd player set up for that and not really interested in playing them this way! Just the ones I aquired from different sources!

Would appreciate any guidance! Thanks!
