Can someone tell me how you figure out whether a game is cd based or dvd based?

Look at the bottom of the original disc, if it's purple it's a CD, if it's silver or gold it's a DVD.

its amazing how many times this has been asked. It also says right on the disc, either compact disc or dvd rom.
