DVD Drives reading capability?

Hi, I was searching around and found out that I have a Samsung drive in my XBox, but am i correct when i assume it cannot read DVD+R's? I've read that only Thomson drives read the DVD+R's. However, when i play movies i have burned onto DVD+R's they work with no problem. So I burned Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow onto a DVD+R and it freezes at the loading screen...did i burn it incorrectly maybe or does the Samsung drive just not read +R's?
