My guess is that you're ps2 laser is worn out/dead. You need to either buy a new laser and install it, or buy a new PS2.

Can anyone confirm if this person's laser is dead?

What version is your PS2? When did you get it?

i bought a ps2 in 2001 and know it only reads cd no dvds so i only can play cd copys and sometime he even dont reads cd's that because the old ps2's have a weak laser.
