I have been successfully following the DVD to DivX guide at
http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/archive/dvd2divx_anamorphic.cfm?wide=true

up until my OS got hosed by a power outage that occurred in the middle of installing NortonSW, grrr.

Anyways the story goes that I had this problem before and can't remember what I did to fix it. Damn that short-term memory loss. Anybody got any ideas/suggestions 4 me? Thanks

Nevermind, I got it figured out. I needed to run the file vifpset.bat in the VPAFI program folder first. It would be cool if they amended this to the DVD 16:9 to DivX5 article. Its kind of essential, in a way. Anyways hope lots of you learn from my mistake.

By the way VCDJunkie has some great advice, listen to him/her. ;^)
