Sometimes better is worst than good !
I backup my DVDs using DVDShrink linked to NERO, but afterwards I usally apply a CD label with the cover picture.
When reading the DVD from my LG DVD reader, after several minutes (twenty to forty) the image starts to pixellise, then freezes.
When searching by chapter, it usally blocks at chapter 17 or 18.
the same DVD on the PC doesn't have any problem.
When I removed the labels (old ones from boeder) the problem is gone and I can read all recorded DVDs again.

Not all media will accept a label !

I had the same problem but I wondered if you applied the labels before burning the discs would this cure it

The majority of users would agree sticking labels on to the discs is asking for trouble. I used to have all sorts of bother with stick on labels, I now print direct to the disc when i can be bothered that is, after all it is only a backup
