I just read thru you´re DVD-ripping guide and i want to suggest you correct a few spelling mistakes and maybe re-adjust the possitions of the pictures a bit. Other then that, great guide. Then a few questions. Could you explain what methods of producing higher-quality sound there are. You mentioned packing the movie with a key-frame interval of 200 to 300 frames. It is my understanding that higher interval takes up less space but makes it impossible to pause and search forward or backwards with the slide-bar ? As pausing the movie is relativly important, do you have suggestions of what might be a suitable key-frame interval and could you tell me how this effects the rest of the settings ?
Thank you.

Not surprisingly, I was the one who wrote it. And as far as spelling mistakes go, I will fix those when I have time -- I'm normally way too lazy to check my language, whether it's Finnish or English.
Pictures and certain mistakes in filter orders will be fixed hopefully within few weeks as well as the 4:3 guide which is full of problems.

When i tried to open the d2v-project, just like the guide explains, I just get a normal open file-box, nothing like the picture in the guide(naturally I couldn´t select the Output video boxes either). I think there might be a problem with the Zip file the program came in because the first time I downloaded the file i got a bad Zip file and couldn´t even extract it. Since I imagine this program is quite important for the DVD -> DivX-process i would really appreciate any help.

You're definately the first one to have problems opening VFAPIConvert -- I tried both download sites and the package was identical and worked nicely. Just unzip the package, install the codec (.bat file) and doubleclick the VFAPIConvert.exe and you should see a box that's similiar to the one in the guide.

You install the codec by running the .bat file.

Do you run by just double-clicking the .bat-file ?(vifpset.bat), because that didn´t work. Should i do something with the oemsetup.inf and vifp.inf-files that are in the same directory ?

.bat files are command prompt scripts. Open a command prompt and go to the directory and run the .bat file. It installs the codec. Then boot the machine. Then doubleclick the file called VFAPIConvert.exe found from the same ZIP file as the rest of the files.

So something like this: D:\Program files\Vfapi\vifpset.bat
I tried that and first it tells me it can´t find the file "vifp.inf" and then gives me "Fallse command or bad file name"-message
What should I do ?

Now I´m pretty sure i installed the codec, I followed those intructions, the ms-dos prompt displayed some code and it displayed briefly a progress bar which went to 100 percent. BUT IT STILL DOESN´T WORK ! I re-booted after the installation and then tried to "Add job". It just oppened the Open File-box again and if I tried to open the project it gave me an error-message with the headline "VFapi reader codec *IS*" and the d2v-projectfiles directory as the message. Nothing like in the guide. Is there some other program that can do the same as VFapi or do you have any further suggestions.

Only thing that comes to my mind is that you're using one of the not-so-compatible new versions of AVI.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD2AVI -- try to create the project file with AVI.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD2AVI v1.76 and see if that helps you.
