what should happen when you insert the hd loader disc and turn on the PS2?

I dl'd the pal iso version and burned to disc, but when I insert it, the screen stays black for 5 seconds, then goes to the memory card browser.

(I have a pal scph 30004, chipped with messiah)
I don't have the hard drive and network adapter yet (coming in the mail), but that shouldn't affect it, right?

also, do I need to use Nero or CDRwin to burn the disc cause I just used the standard Windows XP burning program.

Thanks

you should use Alcohol 120% if you downloaded from a site. It should boot even without the HDD and network adapter.
