I searched for a thread about this, but found only one that was unanswered - so I'll ask again.

I got this ripped ready-to-burn dvd movie that has subs in English, French and Spanish. However, my native tongue isn't any of those. And to let the whole family enjoy the film I'd like to replace one of the sub streams with translated subs.

Ok, I know how to rip subtitles and I can translate them. However, I haven't got the slightest idea about how to master them on dvd as a subtitle stream. So frankly, how does one replace subtitles on dvd with your own, custom ones? DVD Subs are AFAIK saved as some kind of bitmaps on the disc, that makes things complicated, right?
