IP address problem?

i wasn't the person who set up my xbox, but i don't have a IP address where i try to configure the ip address part in either unleash or evox the ip part is grey and can't access it i was wondering if anyone had any idea how to fix the problem, i have been using a boot disk to get a auto ip from a evo x boot disk but this doesn't allow me to read D: drive onced connected to back games up if anyone knows a solution please let me know thanks.
