I ripped a wide screen movie and split it to burn to two DVDRs and everything is fine except my copy is full screen. How can I make it wide screen like the original? I have ifoedit and DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD and used Derrow's DVDSplit to split it. I tried to edit the IFO using ifoedit to make it auto letterbox and maintain the 16:9 ratio from the original and resaved the IFO afterwards but still my copies are full screen no matter what. Anybody?

Thank you for the tip. I've checked it out and it seems to take a long time to come up with a method to avoid splitting the DVD. I am always for a simple way of doing things. I wish there was a much simpler way of backing up a DVD with only one DVDR because I just don't have the time to go thru all of the steps. Right now my procedure is much simpler: DVD Decrypter then DVD Split, then DVD Burn and it's done in about two hours or less. By the way, on the wide screen, it actually worked. I just didn't bother checking the copy on another player. It was the Pioneer DVL-888 that won't play it in WS but on everything else I have, it plays WS. I'm still satisfied considering the DVL-888 is my oldest player(1998). If you come up with a much simpler and shorter method of backing up with just one DVDR, please let me know. Thank you again.

I am having simiar issue on a DVD-9 rip I have done for the movie only. So when played on your DVL-888 the widescreen plays in full screen format? Does it reformat the picture or do the images appear stretched? I only have one settop unit that I can read DVD-RW media and am getting the same results. Would like some reassurance that it would be okay on my other settopos before I go to DVD-R

I don't think it reformats the screen, it seems
like the images appear stretched. But like I said before, it plays fine and perfect on the PC, Daewoo DVD-5700, and Pioneer DV-F727. Only on the DVL-888 that it does not display the 16:9 format. When I checked the mode setting on the DVL-888, it's actually on Cinema mode (Widescreen) but like I said, it still appears full screen and stretched.

I already said that I found out that it copied wide screen and it's only on the Pioneer DVL-888 that it won't play wide screen but on the other players and the PC it does. It takes me about 2 hours to rip, split and burn with perfect copies. I backed up one movie that had two formats and I was able to just burn the wide screen part on one DVD+R. Like I said, if I followed the instructions on the website, I'm confused and it seem to take a lot longer than two hours because it even talked about going to bed and check it back the next morning. That's just too long. Thank you for the tip though but I think I'll just keep on doing what I have been which is just about as easy as DVD XCopy (based on what I read).
