AVI Audio Problem!

Hi,
Yea. I've tried many things but still can't figure this thing out. I have two AVI files and usually I join them into one before converting, but these two AVI files have different audio data or bitrate (not sure), but because of it, I can't join the two AVI files together. I have tried one other thing, but that too is messed up now. I tried using TMPGEnc Xpress to convert the two AVI files into AVI's with the exact same codecs, but as usual another problem came up. A few days back, when I tried converting something to an AVI, TMPGEnc Xpress gave me a few Audio Compressors to choose from, but now when I try, it gives me none to choose from except for Uncompressed PCM, but I want MPEG - Layer 3. Anyone know another way I can still join these files or some way I can get TMPGEnc Xpress working again? I have tried installing the MPEG - Layer 3 Codec, but it still doesn't show up in TMPGEnc. Any help would be appreciated! Don't worry, it's not two movie files. My cousin actually send me his wedding movie in two seperate files (to keep quality) but he did something and now the audio bitrate or data is different and I can't join them. I really want to put this on DVD so I can show it to my other relatives.
