Sounds like you may have to remove the CPU and re-seat it in the socket....................

What does it display it as if you go into your BIOS?

Press del or F1 or F2 to view the BIOS

...............PIO is no go, DMA all the way...............
Beware of the Pixies - they move in over night and turn your life upside down

check your cmos setting as it is either wrong or the bios needs to be updated to read it properly

i presume your computer is a clone not a name brand. as baabaa said above hit the DEL button when it shows up on the post screen(black & white screen).go to the cpu settings section(check manual for proper section as different motherboard manufactures do it differently).CPU speed is cpu bus speed times the multipler(ex. 133x16=2128 or 133x21=2800). try the 133x16 setting first & see what the computer posts at. i have a saying & this is not meant as an insult R.T.F.M.D.(Read The F***ing Manual Dummy).always read your manual first before you do something hardwarewise to your computer.if in doubt ASK.

If that was the case, wouldnt it be more reasoanable to expect that the system wouldnt boot up? :)
