After recording onto a dvd-ram disk from my PANASONIC DMR-E55 RECORDER,I won't to be able to copy the contents to my PC'S hard disk so i can then burn to a DVD-R Disk,is this possible.
I only have a Pioneer A05 BURNER,which can't read RAM disk's.But I believe the A08 can read them
Yes you can transfer the video over to the computer but it is a pain!!!
First you have to have a drive in your computer that will read DVD-RAM disks (Most of them will not) I found one at 3btech for about $80.00.
The DVD-RAM does not use the standard .VOB format it uses .VOT like many video camers use. So you will need software to convert the .VOT files to something that will be useable. Right now I'm playing with Ulead Video Factory, but it is slow, slow, slow. I'm still looking for an easier way to do it. (I keep trying Google searches on "Convert VOT to VOB")
If anyone has an easier way I would love to hear it.
I also have an E-85H It should not make a difference but I'm going to do some more testing.
I think that the DVD-RAM I tested might have been dubbed down in normal mode (Not high speed)Was SP on the hard drive and recorded to the RAM in LP mode.
The unit may use different types of file configurations based on what and how it is doing it.
Did you record the movies directly to the DVD-Ram or to the hard drive first?
If hard drive, High speed dub or normal dub?
All details apreciated.
I'm going to try one with that used a high speed dub and see if that is different.
Kind of low on the priority list as I am trying to recover files off of the units original hard drive that went T/U durring an edit.
when you open up the program, click start.
-click source setup
-then add file - next select drive
-select your ram drive, and select RTAV folder
-under files of type, choose all files, and
highlite "VR movie.VRO"
-click open and browse to HD location, click
ok
-now click "output" and then click "begin
output".

I'll have to try that, It sounds easier and quicker than the way I have been trying before.
I'll add it to list of things to try with this unit.
If this works it may save me a bunch of time saving the files on the drive that gave me the U99 Error.
