Yeah, nice Bday present there Mikey :)
You have selected the most affordable Socket939 Athlon64 CPU.
My listing shows 3400+ as Socket754 and 3500+ as Socket939, but whatever.
If your mobo is Socket939, make sure your CPU is too (now there's some good advice, LoL :)
The whole Socket754 situation is unusual, because it is affordable and powerful, but already doomed, y'know?
The Socket939, with dual-channel memory support in the CPU, is gonna takeover eventually.
The memory bandwidth equal to or better than P4EE is hard to overlook...
You will pay, though. Socket754 has that nice, inexpensive-Athlon-performance touch that we know & love. It is plenty for most folks, but you can buy better.
You're on the steep part of the price/performance graph, however ;(
But WTF it's your birthday (and, your money) but that seems like a good package.
I can get the A64 3400+ (S754) for US $292
Whereas the A64 3500+ (S939) is US $376.
Plus mobo and memory, so your pricing seems reasonable.
(the Socket754 requires only one memory chip though...)
Some first PC, LoL ;)
Mine was an 8088-8Mhz with 512KB memory; I quickly upgraded it to 640KB though.
