problems after installing infinity matrix.

Hi all,
After installing a matrix infinity to my v9 ps2, it wont boot up any more. I switch on the power switch, reset light is red. Press it, goes green and eject light is blue - but screen is black, no sound, no motor noise and fan does not work. on pressing eject, the blue light just keeps on flashing and the tray does not open. Pressing reset does reset unit but still does not boot up, holding reset to stand-by does not work.
Any one got any ideas?

Problem solved - sort of.
Whipped the chip out, works perfect.
I guess the problem was probably due to poor quality wire, i'll try again with kynar as recommended.

hey bigmac, can you tell me if using a better quality wire worked, i've been having the same problem with my v9 ps2 and the infinity matrix, i think a few others are too so if you post whether or not it works that would be good for those people and me, thanks.

Re-installed it with kynar cable - it's worse. now when i power up on main switch, reset light is still red, press it, goes green and eject is blue, i can hear the laser moving for a few seconds. there is no picture output at all (not even black screen), no sound, press eject and nothing happens, press reset and nothing happens. the joy pad analog light still comes on though.
I have double checked the connections but cant see anything obvious.
Can anyone help, please.

Maybe you've got a bad chip? When I installed my Infinity chip I just used an old IDE cable from a junk computer I had. Just peel the wires apart and away ya go. Very easy to maneuver and cut, etc. You can usually get em for just a few bux. Remember, though, your 3V and GND wires should be solid core and heavier than the rest of the wires.

I've just taken the gnd and 3.3v wires off and tried it. still no sound and no picture, but cd spins up, reset and eject buttons work exactly as they should?
any ideas?
also dvd sometimes spins up wether therr is s disc in it or not?

should the 'h' pin be connected to anything, the diagram i'm following doesnt show it connected to anything.

Found the problem, doesnt look repairable. whilst checking the connections i gently tugged on each one to check they were secure. on tugging wire on alternate point 'g' i found that the metal strip has come away from the pcb, tried to refix it, no joy part of the strip broke off - result one f***ed motherboard. removed modchip completely, switched on no dvd motor no picture no sound.

Phew, managed to repair the fault - managed to link the broken track directly to the 'g' pin on the chip using kynar wire.
in two minds now wether to attempt to fit the mod chip again, i reckon i've got enough practice now, after messing about with all the soldering/repairing, to successfully fit it.

just finished fitted modchip, found it dead easy to fit after 3 attempts. tried a backup game on it - works great, no problems so far.

so your ps2 is working fine now? that's good, would you mind telling me what gauge wire you used for the ground and 3.3v connections, thanks!

Yes its working great (so far). I connected the ground and 3.3v with the same gauge wire i used for the rest of the connections which is 0.25mm 30awg kynar wire from RS Components. I have heard that its reccomended to use thicker gauge wire for gnd/3.3v but I didn't have any, and what I used seems to be working great. Just thought I'd mention that for ground I used the thick ground that borders the circuit board (does that make sense?, I placed the chip near the edge of the board so the ground wire is quite short.
