I started using the ImToo CD Ripper and would like to configure it optimally. I have been using the LAME3 MP3 compression. In the CD Ripper configuration, there are options for 1) VBR Method (Disabled, Default, Old, New, MTRH, VBR-ABR) 2) for VBR Quality (an integer between 0 and 9) for ABR (kpbs) (you fill in a number) and 4) Output Sample Rate (Auto, 48000, 44100 and 32000.) The Ripper help files give little info on these settings.

I understand the ABR and VBR compressions are more efficient than a constant bit rate, and the ABR is probably preferred. I use a 128kbit sample rate.

I was hoping someone had figured this out and could pass on the info.

Thanks.

P.S. I saw a link to the LAME3 website on Afterdawn and downloaded the LAME3 update. In the zip file was a lame3 dll file with the same name as the (smaller) lame3 dll file in CD Ripper. I replaced the old with the new and it works, though I haven't the foggiest idea if it is doing what I think it is. Any suggestions?
