Hi,

I looked through 5 pages of this forum, so i hope I am not posting a tired old noob topic :|

I have a PS2 with a Messiah 2 chip, and since i got it none of my PS1 games (original or burnt) will work. The PS2 boots, then goes to the browser menu (Mem card / CD). It cant seem to get past that or boot the game.

I saw some instructions for other chips on how to get around this, usually involving holding the reset button. Does anyone know the Messiah / Messiah 2 specific way to get PS1 backups to run?

oh btw my PS2 is a SCPH 30003 R - which means its a V4,5 or 6.

found these instructions for the messiah 2 not sure if its the same version as your or not but might work


1. Play all kinds of PS2 games ( CD Silver/CD-R/DVD Silver/DVD-R/DVD9 All Region )

- Switch on the PS2 to Standby ( Red light ) and press Eject to open the disc tray.
- insert the game into the disc tray and press Eject or Reset to close the tray & boot the game.

2. Play all kinds of PS1 games ( CD Silver/CD-R All Region ) and DVD Movies.

- Put the PS2 to Standby mode. ( Red Light )
- Press and hold Eject for at least 1 second to open the disc tray.
- Insert the PS1 game or DVD movie into the disc tray and press Eject to close the tray.
- You can also tap Reset and the PS2 will remain in PS1 mode and boot the game.

3. Disable mod-chip function. ( Sleep mode )

- Put the PS2 to Standby mode. ( Red Light )
- Press and hold Eject for at least 5 second to open the disc tray.
- Insert the game or DVD movie into the disc tray and press Eject to close the tray.
- You can also tap Reset and the PS2 will remain in Sleep mode and boot in-region original
game and DVD movie. ( The game or DVD movie must be the same as the PS2 region )
- The Messiah 2 v1.31 is disabled until it has been put back STANDBY and boot normally.
