How do I compile DVD by chapter selection ????

Hi Advanced Gurus. I asked this question in newbie section but got no answer. Now I try here.

My case is I have some DVDs with Veideo songs. Every song is one chapter long.
I whant to make my own best song collection from the DVDs. like 3 songs from DVD1, 5 from DVD 2, and 10 from DVD 3.

I use Smartripper and DVD-lab.

question 1. how Do I best rip these chapters and what should the correct settings in smartripper be?

OK. now let say i ripped 2 chapters from VOB file 1 from the source. I now have my own VOB fil with 3 chapterss. smartripper telles me that the lengh of this movie is 15:12:23. (15 minutes)

I launch DVD lab import the file to the asset window. BUT to my great experience the movie length there is only 07:22:45 (7 minutes). It gives me the problem that i cant set chapters i the file and the movie is only 7 minutes long.

question 2. How do i get the correct movie length time when I RIP chapters and import them to DVD lab.

please let me know how to make this and how to do it. I u recommend any other software then please explain how to solve the problem.
