I found a website for someone in my area who installs mod chips in ps2's. I went over and he suggested the matrix modchip. He installed the chip, and apparently things went wrong (machine makes funny grinding type of noise when playing backups). He asked me to leave my ps2 with him so he can figure out the problem. The next day he called me up saying the chip was working the only thing is that it reads originals (DVD & PS2 games) fine, but when it comes to reading backed up games and movies it only seems to read backups made on pioneer discs! He said he has to do some fine adjustments on something to do with the laser so it can read all copies. Is this possible??? Please help me. Thanks a million in advance!

yes you can adjust the ps2 laser, have a look at this link http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/laserPS2.htm to get a bit better understanding of what he's doing

Thanks alot for the info. Atleast I know he's not trying to take me for a ride! This forum is absolutly incredible! The knowledge I've gained from here is unbelievable. For PS2 games, is the backup procedure always the same using DVD Decrypter. Meaning, do I have to always use ISO read to copy to HD, then ISO write to burn it? If there is other ways that may be required can you guide me quickly? Thanks once again.

for backing up ps2 dvd games with DVD Decrypter the method is always the same unless you are trying tp basckup a dvd9 dual layer disc when you have to use a different method altogether but we'll go through that when and if you need to do it

well not all modchips are the same so ur friend or so should see if that make is used for the ps2 u have and if sodering chips he mite have a wire in the wrong place if not sodering go back and try the top what i wrote i hope this helps u .:)))
