Hardware Error Message on LG-GSA 4081B

I've never had this problem before...well none of these problems before and I can't figure it out.

I use Roxio Easy DVD Copy and I've been getting error messages before the burning process hits 1%. Occasionally I'll receive an additional message:
"Program Memory Update Failure" or something (I should've written it down). I've updated the firmware and this occured right after. Is there a way to uninstall or revert back to the old version? The same deck can only burn an audio CD with EZCD 6 @ 8X, whereas before it was able to burn @24X no problem. I've been using the same 3 brands of media, and I suddenly get these error messages regardless of the type I'm using. Any guidance would be a tremendous help.
