Panasonic DMR HS2 (Help with problem)

I have a Panasonic DMR-HS2 Harddisk DVD Recorder. All fine until we had a power cut. Now I can't get it to work. Whenever I try to switch it on, it displays the blue logo on left hand side for a few secs, then displays "bye" then switches off.

P.S. There is still a DVD disc in the drive. But it i strying to start in HDD mode.
