i was thinking of just buying a dru710ul the internal version and making it external..since i have a laptop, instead of just buying the external and very expensive drx710ul...any reason why i shouldnt do this besides the money difference..thanks..

Hi aspot,
I just love my external burner (Sony DRX510UL). If you decide to buy the internal and put it in an external case I would suggest that you buy a quality case so your drive is better protected.
