Mp3 (MPEG one layer three Audio) and Wma (Windows Media Audio) are two vary differnt audio formats created by seprate companies/organizations. This forums glossary should help you out more.

Do you have any specific questions, like converting one to the another or what are good encoding practices?

There is a major file size difference.
(I may be wrong about WMA, you might need a Windows media player to play it)?
The basic difference is (.WMA)? & .WAV will play in most car & portable CD players, where .MP3 will play on your pc and MP3 player & portable MP3/CD players.
