Hi, i have downloaded some songs off kazaa and for some reason when i play them they only run at 32kps and i get no sound? This is despite the info saying it is 128kps or even 192kps. Whats going on here?? It only happens with certain songs. thanks for any input.

It sounds like fake sound files. Its what the music industry does to stop people from downloading music using Kazaa (Fast Track network). Its not a problem with Kazaa or your media player! Some court said it was illegal for the RIAA to put viruses on the P2P networks but that they could distribute fake files on the networks.

Read This: http://www.gnutellanews.com/article/6136

If you really want to be informed read these: http://www.mp3newswire.net/sect/archive.htm

The only thing I can suggest is to choose another downloader/network, one that isn't under the eye of the RIAA (yet). Since your downloading mp3's I would recommend WinMx (for now) if you have a fast connection (Cable, DSL, T1). I havin't had problems with fakes using it.

Here is a sight with more free P2P software options: http://www.hardaware.net/P2P/P2P%20Network%20Share_1.htm

Why am I not surprised that you have downloaded crap files from Kazaa? I have just had to have my hard drive cleaned to get rid of all the viruses etc picked up from Kazaa. If you are a broadband user try SUPRNOVA.ORG for downloads of complete albums, films etc. I have not yet had a file which was not what it was supposed to be. Goog luck.
