unreal T backup help

Couldn't find anyone with similar problem really, so i had to make this post. I have made a cd-r backup of Unreal Tournament, using alcohol 120 and a memorex CDR. I use slide tool and swap magic, the game reads the disk fine, loads the game up, but then when i try to actually play a match, it returns to the ps2 browser. I have re tried several times and i have the same problem every time. Help would be greatly appreciated... I hope i havent missed anything stupid... thanks
